28/1  Singapore celebrated the 200th Anniversary of the foundation of modern Singapore by Stamford Raffles.

17/4   Jewel Changi Airport opened after a week-long preview.


12/06   Singapore hosted the Singapore Summit, a summit meeting between North Korea and United States leaders.

19/11    A new passenger terminal in Seletar Airport opened, replacing the old building.


17/04 Othman Wok passed away. Singapore entered a one-week mourning period.

13-14/09 Halimah Yacob was elected as the first female president and eighth President of Singapore.

31/10 Singapore Changi Airport opened its fourth passenger terminal.


22/08 S.R. Nathan passed away. Singapore entered a one-week mourning period.


 20/03 Lee Kuan Yew passed away. Singapore entered a one-week mourning period.

 09/08 Singapore turned 50.


24/06 Haze in Singapore reached 401 PSI, the worst in Singapore history.

08/12 The 2013 Little India riot took place after a fatal accident occurred at the junction of Race Course Road and Hampshire Road in Little India, Singapore.


Singapore Changi Airport closed The Budget Terminal to make way for the construction of future Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4.


07/05 PAP lost its grip on Aljunied Group Representation Constituency to the Workers’ Party (GRC) in the General Election. This is the first time an opposition party had captured a GRC since the inception of its scheme in 1988.

27/08 Singaporeans, for the first time since the establishment of Presidential Election, will be voting for the next President after the 6th President of Singapore – S.R. Natham stepped down on 31 August 2011, with more than 2 candidates.

01/09 Dr Tan Keng Yam Tony was sworn as the 7th President of Singapore.
